Newyork Dance Festival

The Newyork Dance Festival was organized by the international arts-and-human-rights organization to develop South Asian dance. This festival will be held on April 24th at Symphony Space and at the Stanley Kaplan Penthouse on April 25th.

This festival brings together the best in South Asian arts and explores the realities of gender and sexuality. Apart from creating awareness it acts as a source to enter public dialogue around issues of gendered identities, violations of human rights and women’s rights.

In this 6th edition, you will see 24 dance companies participating from 9 countries. We are eager to share and encourage you at the classes, discussions and workshops.

The mission of this festival is to give the best quality international dance festival that promotes contemporary dance, dancers artists and audiences in Ireland. It promotes excellent dance which reflects diversity of dance and also influence audiences. Through this Festival, they aspire to increase the opportunities for audiences to experience the art of dance.

In 2008, Dublin Dance Festival took place from April 17-May 3 and in 2009 it took place from May 8-23. These editions of the Dublin dance festival provided exciting programmes featuring international work from artists like Mark Morris, Alain Platel and Anne Teresa.

The 34th edition of the Eastbourne International Folkdance Festival is to be held from 30th April till 3rd May, 2010. This festival focuses both on watching and dancing just link leading and playing music. There will be dance practice workshops, display sides and evening social dances.

Eastbourne International Folkdance Festival occupies a special position among all the folk dance festivals. It is one of the best festivals because it concentrates on workshops and dances for enthusiasts. This festival receives excellent comments from all those who come for the festival. It also has an excellent reach not just because of the organising committee but due to the interest for folk dance all over the world.

At the festival site, you can easily move to any workshop and go everywhere to meet your dancers. There will be four workshop sessions and an afternoon tea-dance. There will be three simultaneous dances on Friday evening and on Saturday and Sunday nights there are four dances and our special events. With one ticket you can join all the events.

The seventh edition of the Belgrade Dance Festival is to be held between April 9-23, 2010. This Festival has brought a good tradition, guest appearances of dance companies and famous choreographers. The main aim of this festival is to present tendencies for contemporary dance. This event has established a lot and it has improved the communication between audiences.

The International Dance Council of Paris founded this festival and Aja Jung from Belgrade is the programme selector. The festival creates new audience, positive suggestions, educational contents and a very good attendance. It has also popularised modern dance and enabled dance art to reach wide audience through TV presentations.

It’s the 32nd annual dance competition and in this year there will be over 100,000 dancers from more than 50 states and even from other countries. The knowledge that our dance competitions and performers display makes the atmosphere more healthy and exciting. All these dancers aim high and they never ever give up on their dreams.

Showstopper’s commitment to excellence has been it’s hallmark since its beginning. Every dancer gets the best opportunity to display their talent and this has been the guiding principle of this competition.

In early days Showstopper used stages for the dance competitions but now they use bigger arenas which provides the best view of the competition for the judges and audience. They also designed beautiful sets and lightings which has been a symbol of excellence for the competition.

Showstopper has always taken pride and care in selecting judges based on professional training and experience, broad background, and fairness. Showstopper judges are also chosen for their warmth with children and their ability to provide useful critiques to dancers and teachers.

Showbiz is a member of the Federation of Dance Competitions.

The purpose of the FDC is to enhance the competition experience by normalizing rules, simplifying competition experience as well as consistently insuring safe events. They serve as a forum for the consistent application of ethical standards relating to competition. These standards are rooted in the best mutual, and not exclusive, interests of all students, parents and studio teachers.

Showbiz has been in the industry for over 20 years and this competition is for intermediate to advanced students.

American Dance Festival-2010

The 77th season of the American Dance Festival is to be held at Durham performing Arts Centre and Duke University’s Reynolds Industries Theater from June 10th to July 24th, 2010. The season line up will be announced on Friday, March 19th , 2010.

Mission:
• build wider national and international audiences
• enhance public understanding and appreciation of the art form
• provide a scientific base for training of young dancers
• encourage the creation of new modern dance by established  choreographers
• preserve our modern dance through presentation of classic works and archival efforts

The ADF remains one of the leading arts organizations in the United States. In 2009 it presented 30 works, 13 companies, eight world premieres, five company debuts, four reconstructed works, and a mini-festival of work. At the ADF School, over 423 students , 50 faculty and musicians observed, labored, and created one of the world’s best fertile environments. Twenty-seven countries and 38 states represented the festival which encompasses a variety of educational paths.

The ADF remains committed to serving the needs of dance, dancers, choreographers and dance professionals. The Festival’s programs have been expanded and altered to help accommodate the changes in the field. The latest curriculum includes classes in dance medicine, body therapies, as well as repertory, composition and all the major dance styles and techniques.  There are also professional workshops offered in teaching and performance, as well as a special program for younger dance students.

OhioDance has announced a new award recognizing outstanding festival comprising middle to high school level dance student. Nominations are accepted based on their abilities and contributions in a number of areas. Awards will be given at the Annual Ohio Dance Festival, May 15 and 16, 2010 at Oberlin College.

In 1976 the organization began as Association of Ohio Dance Companies by representatives from 16 dance companies in Ohio. Later the organization changed its name to Ohio Dance in 1984.

OhioDance is a statewide organization that inclusively supports the practice of dancing. It’s goals are:
• Recognize and communicate the social, and educational value of dance to all.
• Serve as a source of relevant information and resources for diverse statewide constituencies.

• Showcase the richness and diversity of dance by facilitating presentations.

At OhioDance’s annual festival you can meet with dance colleagues and enjoy a smorgasbord of classes, roundtables, workshops, and performances representing the state’s broad and diverse dance field. Regional children’s dance festivals help dance studios and school programs share their work and reach young audiences.

OhioDance assist and supports dance educators in their efforts to provide students with learning opportunities and, recognizes the need for information that relates directly to the daily practice and future realization of dance education.

White Mountain Summer Dance Festival offers three weeks of dance training at Sarah Lawrence College. It’s an exploration of movement and creativity for students and educators. WMSDF offers an recognized innovative and comprehensive approach that combines specialized training and personal attention. Faculties work together to present a curriculum with more than 12 hours of instruction. Classes are taught by educators committed to ensure participants reach their maximum potential in dance and movements. It is a program that supports breakthroughs in technique, creativity, and life. Enrollment is limited to 40 resident participants ensuring four students for one faculty.

The VIDF is celebrating it’s 10th anniversary to present outstanding culturally diverse dance performances by artists from all over the world. Presented with the Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad, the 2010 VIDF takes place during the Paralympic Games period of March 12 - 21, 2010 with performances at the Roundhouse and at the Playhouse.
